Love will lead you back

If we are meant to be

Unless the passage of time

Proves you should be free.

I have loved you with my heart

And have trusted you with my soul

But, as my world falls apart

You are the one relinquishing control.

You are taking others for their word

While leaving my honesty in the cold

And as others lie to you, except in your mind

It is I that suffers for what you are told.

People take it upon themselves to judge me

Stating I am nothing short of insane

But, what gives them the right to judge

For they are not inside of my brain.

You tell me you have a mind of your own

Then to me, why don’t you show

That you can think for yourself

And not let others dictate all of your woe.

Now it is the time for us to break

And see if, by time, we can endure

All the distance we place between us

Testing the love we have and making sure.
